Bonjour tout le Monde!
5/12/2016
Today I did walk number six. This was an optional walk but
one that I really enjoyed. I was able to see a few churches, try out some
perfume and look at little French shops.
This walk started at the L’église de la Madeleine, also
known as the Church of Madeleine. This church was modeled after the architecture
of an ancient pagan temple, but it was under construction to become a catholic
church. In 1806, Napoleon demolished the project to make a monument for the French
Army, but the Louis XVIII ordered it to be turned into a catholic church. It
was a very beautiful church, both on the inside and the outside.

After passing through the flower markets, we made our way
down the road and stopped at La Durée. La Durée is accredited to creating the
famous French Macaron. However, at La Durée they are very overpriced and in my
opinion just okay, so I stick to other French Bakeries.

After La Durée we went into a smaller church called the
Chapelle de l’Assomption. This church was more hidden and smaller than most.
However, it was still very beautiful.

Our last stop on this tour was the Fragonard Musée du
Parfum. Actually, we stopped at the Fragonard store first thinking it was our
destination, but eventually we made our way over to the Museum. In the museum
we got an English guided tour about the different ways to make perfume and the
history of perfume.

At the end people were able to test their smell with
different types of perfume, but our group had to make it over to the Musée D’orsay
to get to our tour on time. Overall, it was a sweet-smelling walk with
opportunities to view a couple of beautiful churches.
À Bientôt,
