Excursions: Versailles

Bonjour tout le monde!
5/7/2016
Today was incredible! I got to go the beautiful Château of Versailles, and even though I was there with the ridiculous number of other tourists who were also on vacation, it was still such an amazing experience.
Versailles
The first things we did there? Wait in line for about an hour to get in. Then of course we had to wait in line while going through the château but it was so beautiful that it didn't matter.
The tour started going through the rooms of Louis XIV, the state apartments, and then to the gallery of battles. The most beautiful room (hallway) was the Hall of Mirrors which was absolutely gorgeous. Since it was one of the bigger rooms all of the people were more spread out too which was nice so that I could actually breath. It was amazing to see how many beautiful paintings there were and all of the grandeur of the castle. We then went into the Mesdames' apartments, which was interesting to see the difference between the males and the females apartments (The males had much better ones).

After, we went out into the beautiful fountains and garden of the Versailles. Right now they have the Musical Fountains Show where they have different classical music playing at all the different fountains and some of the fountains have a show that goes along with the music, as with the case of the mirror pool.

We walked through the fountains to the grand canal, and then we made our way over to Marie Antoinette's estates. We went into the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon, and then we walked through the gardens to go to Marie Antoinette's hamlet. The Hamlet was actually one of my favorite parts of the day. There were all of these adorable cottages around this pond that Marie Antoinette had made for her and friends, and a few cottages were made for farming. It was very quaint and adorable.

After we walked through the fountains again and were exhausted so we headed out. It was such a beautiful day at a beautiful place.
À bientôt,
Claire Hunsaker
