Promenade #11: Lutetia Pulchra Est

Bonjour tout le monde!
May 17, 2016
Today I did walk number 11. This walk included the Musée National du Moyen âge, Sorbonne, Pantheon, Saint-Etienne-du-Mont and Arènes de Lutèce.
This walk started passing by the Musée National du Moyen âge, which we couldn’t go in because it was closed so I will have to be going back a different time. Then we passed by the Chapelle de la Sorbonne.
Chapelle de la Sorbonne
After walking by the College de France we went into the Pantheon. The pantheon was beautiful on the inside. The pantheon used to be a church, but today it is a museum. In the crypt there are tombs of many different famous French people including Voltaire, Rousseau, Hugo and Marie and Pierre Curie.

We then went into the Saint-Etienne-du-Mont which used to be a monastery. I will never get over how many beautiful churches there are in paris.
Saint Étienne-du-Mont
After the Saint-Etienne-du-Mont we went into the Arènes de Lutèce, and ancient Roman arena. It was originally built at the end of the first century C.E. and it was amazing to be in a place that had so much history. This walk was an easier walk, but it was really interesting to see the tombs of ancient people and to be in a place that had been there fore thousands of years. I love the history of France.
