Promenade #18: Grands Boulevards: Galerie Lafayette and Opéra Garnier

Bonjour tout le monde!
Tuesday March 3
This was the second walk I did today. Unknowingly, however, I already did the Palais Garnier (mentioned in a previous post) and I had already been to the Galeries Lafayette so this consisted of going to the other stops along the walk.
This walk started along the boulevard Huassman as we passed by the famous Printemps
mall/shopping central.

We then went to Galeries Lafayette, another large mall. Both of these specialize in very expensive boutiques including Louis Vuiton, Coach, and Chanel.

Then we passed by the Opéra Garnier, still one of my favorite buildings in France. I cannot get over how beautiful it is on the inside.

After we walked down rue de la Paix, where we ended up in the Place Vendôme. Here they have the Ritz Hôtel and the Ministry of Justice. In the center there is a large column created in 1806 made of over 12,000 melted Austrian Cannons.

We passed by the l’église Saint-Roch and ended up at the statue of Joan of Arc right next to the Louvre.

It was a long day of walking but it was worth it to see all of these beautiful Parisian monuments.

À bientôt,

Claire Hunsaker
